The seventy-two hour Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) will be presented in an intensive residential 12 day training retreat in a rare and secluded garden of Hong Kong.
Permaculture is a creative design process based on whole-systems thinking informed by ethics and design principles, including the application of permaculture principles to food production, home design and construction, energy conservation and generation, exploring the social, educational and economic structures supporting a culture caring for the planet and all its inhabitants.

The Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) is an internationally renowned 72 hours course providing the foundations of permaculture design principles and methodology as set forth by the founder of the permaculture movement Bill Mollison. The residential training course will be presented from 25 March to 5 April 2016 in Hong Kong by Daniel Tohill, Trish Allen. All PDC courses offered throughout the world follow the same format for students to qualify for the internationally-recognized Permaculture Design Certificate.

The course covers sustainable human settlements for a wide variety of landscapes and climates. The PDC is the essential foundation for further permaculture work and research and is a pre-requisite for the Diploma in Permaculture Design delivered by the Permaculture Institute. The foundation for this course is the Permaculture Designer’s Manual by Bill Mollison.

Trish and her late husband Joe Polaischer founded the iconic, award-winning Rainbow Valley Farm in New Zealandin 1988 on permaculture principles and ethics. The farm inspired thousands of people over 25 years in sustainable living and demonstrated the principles of permaculture in action. Trish has now established a village-scale model of permaculture and shares her knowledge by teaching permaculture-related courses and workshops. Trish has a Diploma in Permaculture.
Daniel has worked for over 20 years as a landscape/permaculture designer, master planner, educator and environmental consultant. His ecological designs have won awards for his innovative and artful work and have taken him all over the world. He has done over 1,000 small and large landscape designs in rural and urban areas plus a diverse range of specialist projects. Since 1998 Daniel has also been developing with his wife Jude, son Oscar and daughter Poppy a permaculture/organic farm and apiary on 5 acres overlooking the Kaipara Harbour at the Otamatea Eco-Village in New Zealand. They have designed and built one of the first straw bale houses in the North Island plus an earth brick barn and a natural swimming pool. Building natural swimming pool systems is now his specialty.
