This week, we are expressing.

When we gathered for A Fresh Start last Thursday, we shared our one-word intentions for the year ahead — explore, peace, relax, kindness. The theme of our group was inspired. I was reminded once again just how much I enjoy gathering strangers together and connecting with friends … more to come.

One beautiful side-effect of spending real time in the real world with real people is meeting my need for connection. Over the past few years, my social media habits have slowly and steadily and silently encroached on my awake time and giving me a false sense of connection. I am constantly checking something — a quick search, send an update, approve a post, share a link.

Over the weekend, I became aware of how much time social media is stealing from me. I switched off Saturday night and decided not to return until Monday.
