Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPC UWC) is proud to present a Verbatim Theatre performance on to raise awareness and understanding about homelessness in Hong Kong. Fifteen LPC students ages 16 and 19 from Hong Kong and overseas will participate in food distribution to the homeless on the streets of Hong Kong and visit hostels for conversations that will form the basis of the play’s script.

They will also interview those working with the homeless from NGO’s to universities to the government. The College is collaborating with a number of organizations including the Saint Barnabas Society, Sunshine Action and The Guest Room.

As part of the challenge, the students have only one week to conduct interviews, write and rehearse their parts, and perform the play, in both English and Cantonese.

Verbatim Theatre forms part of LPC UWC’s annual Project Week, where all students choose to take part in a specific project over the course of one week with the aim of broadening horizons, personal development, skills-building and community service.

This is the 5th year that students from the College will be creating a Verbatim Theatre project. In previous years students have worked with orphans in Cambodia, refugees and ex-offenders in Hong Kong and mentally and physically challenged young people in Beijing to share their unheard voices with a wider public audience.
