Fail

“Our business in life is not to succeed, but to continue to fail in good spirits.” Robert Louis Stevenson

We’re always facing failure.

If my relationship hadn’t failed three months after my arrival here in 1992, you would likely not be reading this note.

Some of us have more experience with failure than others. Some of us will continue repeating the same lesson until we gain from the failure. Some of us accept the risk of failure as the price of growth. Win or lose, succeed or fail, there is a nugget of gold in every outcome. Success is finding the gain when we fail even when we don’t plan to fail.

System failure is behind most homelessness and The Big Sleepout happens for the first time in Hong Kong this weekend. It’s possible we might even have the chance to wish upon a falling star.

Though Hongkongers live longer than anyone else on our planet, enjoying life at 99 means learning to navigate a few bumps along the road. Lance Lau is starting young and our future looks bright with him leading the way for a clean planet.

Maybe we will see success by eating our bowl, a solution that could reduce air pollution and plastic waste.

Whatever it looks like, each failure is worth examining to improve the next attempt.

How do you manage to fail?

Naturally,
