Growing

This week, after plenty of hard work we welcome the fruits of our harvest.

Last week, we delivered 10,000 copies of Fresh HK to all your favorite fresh places in Hong Kong. Pick up your free copy of our tiny mini-guide, order online or join as a personal member to receive your copy in the post every month.

Hundreds of exhibitors greeted thousands of visitors looking for clean, green, happy, healthy natural lifestyle products and services at LOHAS Expo 15 and Vegetarian Food Asia last week. It was wonderful few days of meeting like-minded businesses and professionals and connecting from the heart to collaborate on new projects and form new partnerships.

The heartbeat community celebrates collaboration, as illustrated by many of the events on the calendar this week — Embracing Uncertainty, Supporting Migrant Women, Creativity and Self Discovery, The Taiji Dolphins, Sippedin, The Emotional Link and Valentines for Trees, a special day for tree-huggers.

Make a date to join our next SoulFood Social, make new connections in a casual setting and meet our members. Please give a warm welcome to Oxyvital, our new heartbeat partner providing fresh air everywhere. Our collaborations are beginning to bear fruit in many ways.

In Hong Kong, it really is the time of harvest, as farms throughout the territory burst forth with fresh, live greens for the table. Supporting local farmers is a great way to protect our precious agricultural land from developers.

Rooftop gardens are popping up everywhere and tiny plots are appearing on balconies and window sills as residents recognize the value of adding even a few fresh foods to our table. The rewards of planting, watering, tending and nurturing seeds to life are enjoyed by body and mind and soul. There is plenty of time to get a little patch started before the growing season ends in April.
