Target are set to reduce per capita disposal rate of municipal solid waste (MSW) by 40% by 2022. Actions being pursued include: reduction at source, quantity-based MSW charging; Food Wise Hong Kong Campaign; clean recycling; turning waste to energy; more hygienic waste transportation and modern landfilling with targets 55% recycling, 23% incineration and 22% landfilling by 2022.
