[First Name] This week we are in mourning for our trees. As we express our gratitude to city workers and pick up the pieces to carry on after an historic Sunday, our neighborhoods are littered with the standing giants who have offered tiny islands of green in our dynamic concrete jungle. They have provided delicious shade from the tropical sun for decades. In their branches and trees, birds have sung their hearts out to be heard over jackhammers. Millions of productive insects have built their homes in a rapidly shrinking habitat. Once the clearing is completed, the planting will begin and we will learn to live with the loss. Nature has spoken and she is not impressed. Anyone living in Asia's World City today can see that our planet is not well. She puked up our shit all over Hong Kong. She has a fever and her temperature is rising. Our health cannot be separated from hers and we have been put on notice. Mangkhut made it easy for us to pick up ton of ocean rubbish all over our shorelines and volunteers have already taken advantage with cleanups happening all across Hong Kong yesterday. The timing is no coincidence as the 2018 World Cleanup Campaign officially kicked off on Saturday. I marked the launch by filling a plastic bottle with micro-plastics as part of my birthday celebration with myself. There are many ways to take part in addition to the organized cleanups. Collect some trash on your own. Gather your family and adopt a patch of your neighborhood. Pick up the next three pieces of litter you come across. Share ideas with community leaders at IRIS Your Escape in Central this weekend. We've got 2 free passes to connect with others discovering the abundance of natural options available to change our wasteful ways. Have you considered hugging a tree today? Naturally,

Save 25% on clean water at homeAct now and make a positive change in your world. Enjoy fresh, clean water at your fingertips. AcquaVibe water filtration systems use natural pressure, eliminating impurities in the body, adding trace minerals and balancing pH. A new study at the State University of New York found that more than 90% of branded bottled water contains tiny pieces of plastic. We are getting into the habit of carrying our own bag, using our own lunch box and bringing our own bottle in our journey toward a zero-waste lifestyle, but as plastic keeps getting smaller, the reason for ditching plastic keeps getting bigger ... read more |
