Gather some friends, rediscover the joy of live music and make some gigging new memories.
The day’s rundown has been curated by The Underground, established in 2004 to promote live music in Hong Kong in a SARS 2.0 responsible outdoor setting.
It has been a very tough couple of years for live music and The Country Music Festival is determined to revamp gigs as we know them.
Be ready to jig at the gig.
Here are some options if you are unable to attend and would like to support our talented local professionals making music for Hong Kong.
Feed our musicians.
Musicians have organized foods drive for professionals in need when concerts and events were cancelled. Many musicians had no income and the situation is still critical for many. To those who would like to donate (preferably non-perishable and canned goods), you can order online and have it delivered or drop food at the Hong Kong Musician’s Union (HKMU) headquarters (7/F Flat A1 Mirador Mansion, 54-56 Nathan Road Tshim Sha Tsui, Kowloon) or get in touch for more information.
Build a foundation for their future.
Community leaders have worked behind the scenes to establish a fundraising structure to accept financial support from everyone who wants to contribute once they become aware of the situation.
In August 2020, founding member Chris B of The Underground Limited undertook a survey to find out how many professional musicians were suffering due to Covid-19. The one week survey with 646 participants (62% full-time musicians and 82% worked in the career for more than 5 years) revealed that over 7% of these musicians had become homeless or were in the process of being evicted.
This led to the establishment of The Musicians Foundation with a new website with a bank account finally open and ready for your contribution.
We can all invest some of our entertainment savings over the past two and a half years to support our musicians who are ready to play.
