This week, we are getting ready.
It seems the past year has flown by as we prepare to spend time in Wan Chai next week catching up with everyone at NOPA2015. Aside from seeing new products ready to launch in Hong Kong, it is the perfect opportunity to get the latest local developments from the network in a warm, community atmosphere.
Trade fairs are generally much quieter than public fairs, and I generally avoid crowds, but I was rewarded for braving the full-contact chaos of the Food Expo last week when I introduced myself to a local business owner who replied, “heartbeat is famous in Hong Kong,” and turned to her colleague who agreed, “yes, very famous.”
While I was doing my little inner happy dance, I realized that it is the network that is famous — being connected like we are expands our impact in ways beyond our imagination and beyond any measurable statistics. In what has traditionally been our quietest month, daily traffic is at a new high, the August newsletter has reached over 1.4k people on the Facebook page and our little group is growing by the day. It is becoming more obvious that you are sharing the love.
My work feels so much lighter and meaningful when I see the information reaching more people than I can reach on my own.
In the spirit of sharing, Ecozine uncovers a conspiracy of recycling in Hong Kong and Green Queen picks up on our family fun theme with local day trips to organic farms. With the familiar family routines of back to school, now might be time consider addressing some issues with assistance from Elaine Fong, our new professional member who is a marriage and family therapist with plenty of experience working in the education system.
Executives are recognizing that When Women Thrive All Else Thrives, Green Drinks addresses Chemicals, Micro Plastics and Climate Change, Clean Air Network is Talking Air with Secretary for the Environment, TakeOut Comedy Club helps us lighten up with a Standup Comedy Class and The Royal Geographical Society HK is Exploring the Origins of Stars.

Advance tickets now on sale for HKDR’s annual gala fundraiser
Gather your Extreme Hollywood finest and join Hong Kong Dog Rescue for their Annual Fundraising Gala Dinner from 6pm until late on Saturday 19 September 2015 at the Aberdeen Marina Club. The primary goal of the Dogstar Academy Awards is to raise one million dollars to support ongoing daily operations and to help us save more lives. Event sponsorship is now available and donations are welcome for auction, lucky draw and table prizes. Advance booking is available until July 31 at HK$1,888, 2 tickets for HK$3,600 or HK$19,800 for a table.
