Constant change

This week, we are keeping up with the changes.

Last month, I had the pleasure of catching up with one of our first advertisers who recognized I was on to something all those years ago. She shared a photo of us after her HK visit captioned “Kinzie the Queen of Holistic Wellness & founder of HK Heart Beat. She is a bright and amazing freind to me” (sic). Our brief time together reminded me of just how far I have come, the amazing friends I have met, how much Hong Kong has changed and the exciting time we are living through. This is more than a business. It is my ‪love‬.

Whoever said don’t mix business with pleasure might have had it wrong.

Keeping up with everyone is another matter altogether. Last week, we posted a feature with fresh and new listings on the HK directory to make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for … even when you’re not sure what you’re looking for. You can also find directory updates at the bottom of the newsletter each week.

Every listing includes dates so you can see if you need to call first in case their details have changed.

With rising property prices, businesses are regularly moving from street level to upper floors while new companies are operating further from Central where rents are a little more reasonable. The new MTR extension to Aberdeen is creating an opening and we are keeping an eye on the new holistic services offered on the South Side.

Updating the calendar gets more interesting all the time with the increasing number of events on offer. Working since early this morning, I finally called time late this afternoon to get this out, even though the invitations keep pouring in.

Tonight the HK Philosophy Café holds an open discussion on Art and Aesthetics while the topic is Being Mortal just up the hill at The Asia Society. 6 months on,  Child Welfare Scheme co-founder Doug Maclagan is on visit raising funds to  build Nepal’s Future in a talk on Wednesday and a Dinner on Thursday.  Green Drinks pulls double duty this month and tomorrow night’s guest is Christina Dean who will talk about Fashion Industry’s Toxic Impact and the work she does with Redress the local charity she founded to clean it up.

Our business members invite you to join their activities — A Day With Fé is hosting a new regular Meditation Evening, Balance Health explores Natural Beauty with Chinese Medicine and founder Christel Wilk returns to Hong Kong to share her knowledge of how Nei Gong can help with Autism.

CanCham uncovers the truth about Diamonds – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly while AmCham takes a Journey to a Sustainable City. Sir Ranulph Fiennes returns to Hong Kong for the Royal Geographical Society annual dinner, fins are off the table at the HK Shark Foundation Fundraising Dinner and The Mekong Club benefits from sales at Battle of the Bands CD Launch.

Kinesiology Asia hosts Dr Charles Krebs who will inspire you with his experience of regaining mobility after a diving accident. Taste natural wines and meet the winemakers at La Cabane a Vin and enjoy another Friday night of movement meditation with Carsten Holz at Rock My Soul.

It’s another weekend of festivals as Flex Studio hosts a Family Yoga Festival to mark 10 years, the first Yoga and Wellness Festival happens on the harbourfront and the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation celebrates another year of creativity at  Arts in the Park down the road in Victoria Park.

These are only a few of the events this week on the calendar and there are more to come. If you are on Facebook, join Natural Hong Kong for more updates. We also promote natural life in the fast lane on other social media channels, including Twitter and Instagram.

Before I sign off and click send, I want you to know I would like to see more of you offline. I have been receiving requests to host another event, so let me know you’re interested in joining and I will organize something special before our diaries get completely filled with fun.

There is no such thing as too much fun or too many friends.

Where do you turn to keep up with the changes?
