HK heartbeat is my labour of love and your help is needed in order to devote my full time and develop the business. After 21 years of uninterrupted community service with a team of one, it’s time to listen to my own heartbeat and find sustainable ways to pay the bills with paid subscriptions, memberships and regular contributions.
Along with the basics of rent and utilities, funds raised go towards fueling the business with real food I prepare from whole ingredients in a tiny kitchen while continually upgrading and learning the new tools of the media trade and making time for activities like accounts management, sales development and event production.
My early years taught me the secret of making a little go a long way. What is now called up-cycling and recycling and innovation and hacking has long been known in poverty circles as the farmer’s fix. I am a 20th century master of wasting nothing and the art of making a very little go a very long way.

After the success of previous fundraising campaigns, friends advised me to adjusting the campaign to build future business stability and prevent future emergency crowdfunding to avoid eviction with online fees taking a significant chunk of the payments.

Emergency crowdfunding campaign
A crowdfunding campaign launched on 11 June 2019 raised sufficient funds to halt eviction proceedings.
Contributions were made via online payment and deposit to our bank account, while we sparked new conversations about financial backing arrangements and business project partnerships and increased business membership sales.
