This week, we are making plans.
With the increasing rate of change, we adjust our course regularly.
2019 is shaping up to be another big year as more people make the connection between healthy ecosystems and personal health. Today’s stinky air is a byproduct of our addiction to fossil fuels and it’s related to our habits. When the wind blows from the north, we feel the impact of the massive industrial machine a few miles away that is the backbone of global economics.
The latest discovery of the world’s largest oil reserve is hardly making headlines and low prices support an increasing number of gas guzzlers on our roads. In the past 5 years, more than 80,000 private cars joined Hong Kong traffic and while there are electric vehicle incentives in place, most of automobiles here are not.
We are starting the new year with our holiday gifts of refillable bottles, metal straws, bamboo toothbrushes, bars of soap and canvas shopping bags. Our intention is to begin each day mindfully, to shop locally and to become aware of the single-use plastic that is the hallmark of 21st century living.
This is the year these new year’s resolutions become feasible.
Waves of change are beginning to build and we are ready for the big one one.
I am putting pen to paper to capture the flow of new ideas and continue serving our community with useful content organized for conscious everyday choices. The plan is to raise awareness with practical, unbiased information and introduce local organizations and professionals who are here to make natural life in the fast lane a little bit easier.
What are your plans for the year ahead?
